ELO recorded our best result of recent years in the Scottish heat of this inter-club competition. The Compass Sport Trophy which is for those with fewer than 125 members (while the Cup is for larger clubs). This means we compete against some local clubs with much larger membership than ours.
ELO finished creditably in 6th place out of 9 clubs formally competing. We tied with Clyde who came 2nd in the national final in 2016. And we avoided being one of the four clubs invited to travel to the final in Devon later this year. …
This year we fielded 11 competitive runners and everyone successfully completed their allotted course so ‘counted’ towards the points total …
Congratulations to all who took part and particularly those who scored 90 or more points. Also to those who were running unaccustomed longer courses for the benefit of the team and to Simon and Iona Riley competing at a high level event for the first time.
