Jack winning East of Scotland Trophy

Jack winning East of Scotland Trophy

A strong contingent of ELO members travelled to the Hirsel Estate near Coldstream in Roxburgh Reivers territory. The event combined a standard SoSOL with the 2014 East of Scotland Championships.
Although the weather was bright the going underfoot was muddy throughout the lovely parkland setting. Most courses favoured running skills over technical navigation. But this was balanced by a special section in dense rhododendron thickets which required very careful map reading.
At a SoSOL you are free to run any course which suits you but to win your ESOA trophy you have to run the designated course.
Most of the ELO contingent will be pleased with their results. Special congratulations to the two members who became ESOA Champions:-
– Jack Poole won M18 (against rather limited opposition)
– Sheila Strain won W65 (against strong opposition – and by a considerable margin).
