SOLs, SoSOLs and ESOA Champs

The last two weekends have seen the completion of both the Scottish O League (SOL – level B) and South of Scotland O League (SoSOL – level C) programmes as well as the ESOA championships for 2016.

Sunday 30th October saw the last SOL at Culbin on the Moray Firth. ELO was represented by just three runners and Sheila Strain was rewarded for her long trip north by confirming her position as the overall winner of the W65 category in the final SOL league table.

And Sunday 6th November saw the final SoSOL at Penicuik hosted by ESOC with Trina Rogerson as independent Controller. This event doubled as the East of Scotland (ESOA) Championships for 2016. A stronger ELO contingent experienced mixed fortunes – most of us spoiling otherwise solid performances with an error or two. The closest to winning silverware were Sheila Strain who came second in her category and Julian Hall who was very unlucky to miss out on winning the very competitive M50 category by just 17 seconds.

In the completed SoSOL league tables our highest positions were provided by the youngsters – Angus Wright came third on Yellow and Benji Edmondson finished 6th on Orange.

Duncan Edmondson will leap up the BOF Rankings this week – a solid run on Blue at Penicuik completes his roster of 6 counting scores in the last twelve months.
