Join ELO
2026 membership is now open – whether you are renewing your membership or joining ELO for the first time. If you pay now you will be a member until the end of 2026.
There are two membership options depending on whether you wish to join British Orienteering as well as Scottish Orienteering and ELO …
| Join ELO & SOA | Senior £12 | Junior £2 |
|---|---|---|
| Join ELO, SOA & BOF | Senior £30 | Junior  £7 / £17 |
Junior = Born 2001 or later
BOF = British Orienteering
Both options include public liability insurance cover and cheaper entry to many events within Scotland. Family memberships are also available from both SOA and BOF.
The main difference between the two options is that the SOA cheaper option is suitable if you only want to orienteer locally. Juniors recoup the membership cost by attending just two events within the year.
The more expensive BOF option gives access to more benefits including participation in the Ranking system and cheaper entry to events throughout the UK.
You can join ELO & SOA initially and upgrade your membership to BOF later if you wish.
Here are some of the benefits you gain from joining ELO …
- ELO plans to stage around 15 events across East Lothian in 2026 – details on our Events page and on the BOF event diary
 - For these events the entry fee is cheaper for members
 - You also get reduced entry fees for events organised by other orienteering clubs in Scotland
 - Junior members can join an extensive programme of coaching and training events organised locally (East of Scotland) and across the whole of Scotland
 - Junior members receive an ELO T shirt after completing five events (so get your record card signed up at each event)
 - ELO will pay your entry for some events where you are running for the club. The two main examples are the Scottish Relay Championships and the CompassSport Trophy. Both have a fun format and more members taking part means we can enter balanced teams
 - You are eligible to become an ELO club Champion by winning your category at a designated event. Our champions for 2025 will be decided at Butterdean on 29th November 2025.
