Jamie Stevenson Trophy

Jamie Stevenson Trophy

The Jamie Stevenson Orienteering Competition was held up in Braemar on 17th June. The courses were just for juniors and ELO had a very small team of just three people: Joel, Emily and Colin. Emily ran the yellow course while Joel and Colin ran on the orange course.

The course was on was a hilly woodland area with lots of marshes and we used the Emit punching system which was very different to the SI stuff.

Both courses had 12 controls, the yellow course was 2.2 kilometres and the orange course was 2.9 kilometres

Emily came third on the girls yellow course winning a bronze medal in a a time of 18:28. On boys orange, Colin came fifth with a time of 24:24 beating Joel who came in sixth by 2 minutes and a second.

At the arena there was a quiz where you had to go round every club tent matching up control description symbols with a club and a get to know you quiz.

At the prize giving MAROC won the overall competition and ELO came in ninth place. Hopefully we’ll be joined by more juniors next time and it won’t be so far to travel!
